It’s wedding season! With six weddings and four christenings this year, it was an excellent excuse (if I needed one) to get crafty. I spent the May Bank Holiday creating wedding cards with my diecutting toy. I’m really pleased with the result – I think it makes a lovely, personal gift. Now, I just need […]
A Costa Rican sloth commission
I was honoured to be commissioned by another member of the Costa Rica group to paint more wildlife – this time a sloth. It wouldn’t be my animal of choice, but I guess he does have a slightly cute face, in an unusual way. In any case, I was pleased it wasn’t another monkey, as […]
A monkey commission from Costa Rica!
I was delighted to be asked by one of the Germans on my recent Costa Rica trip to recreate a beautiful photograph taken by a member of the group as a canvas painting for his wall. It was a hefty task and the logs were difficult to capture well, but after a long weekend and […]
An early birthday present for precision cutting
I treated myself to an early birthday present of a Cricut Explore Air 2. I’m already having great fun creating images and cutting intricate shapes with it from card. Super excited to see everything it has to offer. My first test was cutting out the shape of Europe for a scrapbook I’m making of all […]
Inspired by Costa Rica
It’s been a while since I picked up my paintbrushes but seeing the incredible wildlife in the rainforests of Costa Rica has inspired me – I’m going to do another three animals, starting with a monkey. This cheeky chappy is enjoying a refreshing coconut.
Pet portrait commission #2
I’ve just completed my second pet portrait commission – this time a spaniel. I wonder what breed will be next.
My first pet portrait commission
I was thrilled to be asked to do my first pet portrait commission – a painting of a lovely dog for the father’s birthday present. Looking forward to completing many more in the future.
Getting crafty with felt
In preparation for the arrival of my first niece/nephew I’ve put down my paintbrushes and picked up a needle to make some cute felt animals for a farm animal mobile. Having grown up on a farm I want to share this with the little one, and I’m sure he or she will love all the […]
Sketching for weddings
A friend who is getting married asked me to do a simple pencil sketch of the church for their order of service. I think it works well, and happy to help with any requests in the future.
Watercolours in the sunshine
It was a beautiful June day and I made the most of it by sitting out in the garden and painting a fox and a pheasant for my living room wall with some new watercolours my friend bought me for my birthday.
